Who we Are And why You Should Train Here

At Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Scottsdale, we believe Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is for EVERYONE, regardless of age, gender, athleticism, or ability. We are proud to say we are continuing the legacy of Grandmaster Hélio Gracie who believed Jiu-Jitsu should empower the weak to be able to defend against the strong. This is why we offer structured martial arts curriculums specific to the self-defense needs for any demographic or skill level, with programs created for beginner adults, women, and children.

We take pride in creating a safe, comfortable, and welcoming learning environment for all students and family members in Scottsdale. We are passionate about what we do because, simply put, we believe confident humans make kinder humans.

Get To Know Our TEAM

Emily Miret

Emily started her Jiu-Jitsu journey in 2016 with the Women Empowered program. She completed the Women Empowered Instructor Certification in 2017 and completed the Bullyprooof and Combatives instructor certification in 2018. Emily is also certified to teach The Master Cycle. Emily has a B.S. from Arizona State University in Family Resources and Human Development, and her favorite class to teach is the Little Champs.

Darin Mowery

Darin began his Jiu-Jitsu training in 2010 and started training in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu due to its street self-defense approach and applicability to his job as a Police Officer. Darin completed the Instructor Certification Program in 2013 and is certified to teach Bullyproof, Combatives, Master Cycle, and Gracie Survival Tactics 1 & 2. Darin has a BS from Arizona State University, was an Arizona POST Defensive Tactics Instructor, and a Third Degree Black Belt in Ed Parker American Kenpo.

Our Facilities

Our tastefully designed academy features Fuji mats, men’s & women’s changing rooms, shower with towel service, gi laundry service (fee), and a pro shop selling Jiu-Jitsu gear and apparel. We also have ample space for spectators to view. We take great pride in the cleanliness and safety of our academy with multiple mat cleanings each day. This is “Jiu-Jitsu Heaven” right here in Scottsdale!
